Rohit Sharma becomes first-ever Indian player to grab this historic feat despite torrid outing during GT vs MI's IPL 2025 clash
Rohit Sharma became the first Indian player to notch this historic feat during Mumbai Indians' IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans

Rohit Sharma etched his name in the record books during IPL 2025 clash between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on March 29.
He became the very first Indian player to notch a mega milestone in T20 cricket.

Despite making history, Rohit didn't have a great day with the bat, getting out after scoring just 8 runs. He started his innings with a bang but failed to convert it into a big score.

Rohit's promising start was short-lived as Mohammed Siraj managed to bowl him out, hitting his stumps on the fourth ball of Mumbai's innings after being smashed for two fours. Rohit also failed to score in MI's previous match against the Chennai Super Kings, where he was out for a duck.

However, irrespective of his batting, Rohit Sharma got to taste the history. By simply stepping onto the field, he became the first Indian cricketer to play in 450 T20 matches. His journey in this format began back in April 2007 when he made his T20 debut for the Mumbai state team against Baroda. Notably, he was also a part of the Indian squad that lifted the inaugural T20 World Cup trophy in 2007.

Rohit has the distinction of playing in every single T20 World Cup held up to this point. Adding to his achievements, in 2024, he became the first Indian cricketer to be part of two T20 World Cup-winning squads. Following that significant victory, having led India to the title in that ICC event, he announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game.

Following closely behind Rohit on this exclusive list is Dinesh Karthik. This former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman has featured in a total of 412 T20 matches. Although Karthik retired from Indian cricket after the IPL 2024 season, he continues to be an active player in various T20 leagues around the world.
