A stampede broke out outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory celebration following their IPL 2025 title triumph, which marked their first-ever trophy in 18 long years since the inception of glitzy league.

RCB superstar Kohli took to Instagram and shared the RCB's official statement on the stampede with a caption which read:
"At a loss for words. Absolutely gutted".
"We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe," RCB's official statement read.
The tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday, June 4 during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) celebrations for their recent IPL victory. Thousands of enthusiastic fans had gathered near the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, hoping to catch a glimpse of their beloved players and partake in the joyous occasion.
The celebratory event organized for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team's IPL victory in Bengaluru on Wednesday took a devastating turn. A major tragedy occurred outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, located near Vidhana Soudha, when a stampede resulted in the confirmed deaths of at least 11 people and left over 33 injured.
Earlier, in response to this heartbreaking event, both RCB and Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) jointly announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the bereaved families.
"RCB - KSCA expresses deep concern and heartfelt condolences regarding the unfortunate incident that occurred during the celebration organised by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium earlier today. We are profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of life and the injuries sustained by individuals during this event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this incident. We sincerely regret this tragedy and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families during this extremely difficult time," the joint statement by RCB and KSCA read.
"RCB - KSCA announces Rs 5 lakhs to the families of those who have lost their loved ones. We hope this gesture can offer some support and solace in their time of grief. We want to emphasize that this compensation is not intended to determine or replace the value of human life, but rather to serve as a gesture of support and solidarity during such challenging times. Thank you for your understanding and support," the statement further stated.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, also announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the 11 individuals who lost their lives in the stampede. Additionally, he assured that all 33 people who sustained injuries in the stampede would receive free medical treatment from the state government.
