Former India captain Anil Kumble reckons that the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will have to take a bold call on MS Dhoni's future after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The legendary wicket-keeper batter was retained by the franchise as an uncapped player but it would be interesting to see whether he will feature in the next season after the team's humiliating outing in the 18th edition of the tournament.
Fans and cricket pundits started speculating about MS Dhoni's future, considering his age. Dhoni also hinted that he will assess the situation during the off-season before making a call.

Kumble, who also captained the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), said that MS Dhoni and CSK will need to come to a decision during the off-season to shape the franchise's future.
"At some point in time they have to take a call, that's for MS to do. This is one format that allows an older player to come in and be really successful, maybe in ODIs or Tests it becomes that much harder. But, at some point, the team management needs to make a call, as to how they want to see the future of CSK. If MS may not be on the field, but I am sure he will remain involved in building CSK's future," Kumble said on ESPN Cricinfo.
CSK has had a forgettable outing in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, the five-time champions managed to win just three matches in 13 outings. CSK, who are already ruled out of the tournament, will play their last clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 25 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
