India's Yuzvendra Chahal scripted history after joining Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a staggering price in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on November 24. Punjab Kings won the bidding war to acquire Chahal for a whopping Rs 18 crore. Yuzvendra apparently became the most expensive spinner in IPL history. Overall, he also became the joint most expensive Indian bowler in IPL history beside Arshdeep Singh, who was re-acquired by PBKS. This came as a surprise to many as Chahal had recently been released by the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The bidding war for Chahal was intense, with multiple franchises vying buy his services. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) initiated the bidding process, but it quickly escalated into a fierce battle between Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Chahal's former team, also entered the fray, hoping to bring the talented spinner back to the franchise. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad joined the competition, further intensifying the bidding war. Ultimately, it was Punjab Kings who emerged victorious, securing Chahal's services for the upcoming IPL season.
