As expected, an in-form Shreyas Iyer jumped several places to take the second spot and become a strong contender for the orange cap in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Iyer scored an unbeaten 52 in the successful run chase against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to jump from 14th place to the second.
The top spot still belongs to LSG's Nicholas Pooran. The Caribbean batter missed his half-century against PBKS in LSG's first home game of the season. He was dismissed by leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. The southpaw scored 44 runs from 30 balls, incuding five fours and two sixes.
Mitchell Marsh missed his chance to extend lead over other players as he was dismissed for a golden duck by left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. The Australian still holds a spot in the top five.

Changes expected after RCB vs GT clash
There are a few changes expected as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) go up against Gujarat Titans (GT). The only GT batter in top five is their young opener Sai Sudharsan. He will have a chance to take the orange cap from Pooran. He needs 53 more runs to take the top spot. GT's wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler (93 runs) and captain Shubman Gill (71 runs) can take a spot each in top five if they score well in their away game.
Meanwhile, there is no RCB batter among top 10 batters. However, RCB's three promiment batters Virat Kohli (90 runs), Phil Salt (88 runs) and captain Rajat Patidar (88 runs) can enter the top five if they score well in their first home game of the season at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The pitch in Bengaluru has been batting-friendly. The short boundaries don't help the bowlers either.
