Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans registered a dominating 58-run win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Sai Sudharsan was the standout performer of the clash, smashing 82 off 53 that helped GT to put up a significant 217/6 in the first innings. In the second innings, each of their five bowlers picked up at least one wicket to bowl the Royals out for 159.
For RR, Tushar Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana picked up two wickets each in the first innings, conceding more than 50 runs. While batting, Sanju Samson scored a 28-ball 41 and Shimron Hetmyer put up 52 (32), but quick wickets helped GT to win the clash.
GT bowlers gained a spot in the Purple Cap table after the match. Left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore jumped up to the second spot, just behind Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad, who held on to the cap for another day.
Kishore who got eight wickets in four outings, picked up two wickets against RR, which took his tally to 10. He was joined by Mohammed Siraj, who picked up another wicket with an excellent tournament economy rate of 7.70. Another GT star, Prasidh Krishna who’s now placed eighth with eight wickets after his season-best figures of 3/24.

Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc under spotlight
On April 10, a few changes are expected in the purple cap tally as Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take Delhi Capitals for their fifth clash of the tournament. RCB star Josh Hazlewood has so far picked up eight wickets in four outings, the star needs 4 wickets to top the list. On the other hand, DC star speedster Mitchell Starc picked up nine wickets in three outings; the pacer is just three wickets shy of dethroning Noor Ahmad.
