Despite securing a four-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians remained stagnant on the seventh position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 points table on April 17. This win marked Mumbai Indians' second consecutive win in the IPL 2025, bringing their total to six points after playing seven matches.
While Mumbai Indians had the chance to climb above Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the standings, their chase of the 163-run target extended to 18.1 overs. Consequently, their net run rate did not improve much. After seven games, MI possess six points and a net run rate of +0.239.
The Kolkata Knight Riders continue to occupy the sixth spot in the IPL 2025 points table, also with six points from seven matches. Their superior net run rate of +0.547 is the differentiating factor that keeps them ahead of the Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, despite their loss against MI, Sunrisers Hyderabad remain in the ninth position with only four points from their seven matches played.
Looking ahead, Hardik Pandya's brigade will remain in Mumbai for their next IPL 2025 encounter, which is a high-profile clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scheduled for April 20. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad will travel back to their home ground and are set to face the Mumbai Indians once again on April 23 in Hyderabad.
This is how the updated IPL 2025 points table looks like:
