The Chennai Super Kings defeated the Lucknow Super Giants in a fierce battle to end their five-game losing run. Despite the narrow victory, the team's lower run rate than that of its neighbors kept them at the bottom of the standings. Despite the defeat, Lucknow was still in fourth place. The Delhi Capitals suffered their first loss of the IPL 2025 season against the Mumbai Indians, stifling a comfortable run chase despite a spectacular comeback effort from Karun Nair.

Dhoni-led CSK ends losing streak

With a fast-paced cameo of 27 (19), rookie Shaik Rasheed helped CSK get off to a strong start as they chased the target of 167. The 20-year-old hammered six fours on his first appearance in the T20 spectacular, displaying absolutely no qualms. Before being removed by Avesh Khan, he and Rachin Ravindra put up 52 runs off 29 balls for the first wicket.

Ravi Bishnoi then gave CSK two big blows by dismissing Rahul Tripathi and Ravindra Jadeja. However, Shivam Dube held one end firmly and finished with an unbeaten knock of 43 runs off 37 balls. Later, Dhoni played a captaincy cameo of 26 runs off just 11 balls, which included four boundaries and one six. Dube fired the finishing shot and ensured that CSK win this match with 3 balls remaining. CSK has ended their five-match losing streak with this win.
