Krishnappa Gowtham opened up on his not so good experience with his former IPL team Punjab Kings

Krishnappa Gowtham will be going under the hammer in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

As the IPL 2025 mega auction is imminent, Krishnappa Gowtham has made shocking revelations about his time with the Punjab Kings. The experienced off-spinner, who has played for multiple IPL franchises, has publicly criticised the Punjab Kings (PBKS). Gowtham shared his negative experiences with the Punjab Kings on the Unwind podcast. His revelations could potentially damage the franchise's reputation ahead of the upcoming IPL auction.

The Karnataka bowler has criticised the Punjab Kings for their treatment of him during his time with the franchise. This revelation comes ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Gowtham has played for various IPL teams including Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants, Chennai Super Kings, and Punjab Kings. Despite making his IPL debut in 2017, he has only played 36 matches across six seasons. While Rajasthan Royals gave him more opportunities, playing 22 matches, other franchises, including Punjab Kings, failed to utilize his skills effectively.

Krishnappa Gowtham feels that the Punjab Kings did not give him a fair chance to showcase his skills. Despite being a versatile player, he was underutilized by the franchise. Gowtham has expressed his desire to never play for the Punjab Kings again in the IPL.

Gowtham's negative experiences with the Punjab Kings extend beyond cricketing opportunities. He has criticised the overall treatment he received during his time with the franchise. He has expressed that if selected by Punjab Kings in the upcoming IPL auction, he would not be able to give his full commitment due to past experiences.

“I would say Punjab Kings. I’m just being very honest. I’ve never had a good experience with them. There are other things; it’s not just about cricket. It’s not the way I would want to be treated as a cricketer. When I play for a team, I always give more than 100% for the team; I never keep anything back. But I wouldn’t give more than 100% to the Punjab Kings if they pick me (at the IPL 2025 mega auction),” Krishnappa Gowtham said as quoted by Cricket.com.

Earlier, ex-PBKS star al-ronder Glenn Maxwell, in his autobiography, also shed light on the internal issues within the franchise. He revealed that despite being the captain in 2017, Virender Sehwag was involved in team selection decisions. Maxwell further claimed that Sehwag publicly blamed him for the team's failures during post-match press conferences.

It will be interesting to see which franchise will pick Gowtham in IPL 2025 mega auction after his remarks.
