'Our intent was there, but...': Gutted Axar Patel reveals why Delhi Capitals failed to win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru

After RCB's win against DC, skipper Axar Patel revealed that the pitch was tough to bat on during the first innings, but it became easy for the batter when dew came in. He also reckons that they were short of 10-15 runs.

"I feel that we were 10-15 runs short. I thought in the first innings, the wicket was a bit tough but due to dew, it eased out in the second innings. We missed a few catches, we need to take those catches. Intent was the same but the wicket was two-paced but after dew came in it become easier, we don’t think we could have done anything different. We kept losing wickets. If a batter would have spent some time in the middle, then he could have accelerated, we could have got 10-15 runs extra" said Axar Patel in post match presentation.

Coming back to the match, Krunal Pandya's first fifty in IPL 2016 helped the RCB to register a dominating six-wicket win against DC. Krunal (73 not out of 47 balls), who has been part of every IPL season since his debut in 2016, paced his innings perfectly while batting alongside former RCB captain Virat Kohli (51 off 47).

The duo stitched a 119-run stand off 84 balls as RCB chased down 163 in 18.3 overs to extend their unbeaten run away from home.

RCB bowlers put the squeeze on Delhi Capitals in the middle overs through Josh Hazlewood and the spinners to limit the home team to 162 for six. DC will now face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 29 at the same venue and on the other hand, RCB will face Chennai Super Kings on May 3 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
