Jofra Archer is reportedly set to miss the remainder of IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals are already out of the playoff race

Rajasthan Royals' star pacer Jofra Archer has joined his English teammates Sam Curran and Jamie Overton who will not be returning to India for the last leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. However, several other English players including Jos Buttler, Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, and Liam Livingstone, are anticipated to arrive in India on May 14 to fulfill their commitments in the ongoing IPL 2025 season.

Archer was acquired by Rajasthan Royals for a whopping sum of Rs 12.50 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction and has featured in 12 matches for the franchise thus far. Meanwhile, Curran and Overton are part of Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) IPL 2025 squad, having played five and three matches, respectively, for the team led by MS Dhoni. Notably, both Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings are no longer in contention for the IPL 2025 playoffs.

“Information obtained from the ECB and franchises, Buttler, former England white-ball captain, will reach Ahmedabad on Wednesday night, and the same is the case with Will Jacks, the Mumbai Indians all-rounder, who should be at the Wankhede Stadium for practice from Thursday (April 15). Liam Livingstone, the all-rounder from Lancashire, who is with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), is believed to be on a flight to Bengaluru. There is, however, no clarity on Phil Salt, the other recruit from England, but Bethell is understood to be on his way to India," according to a Cricbuzz report.

“It is not a case of not being willing because we are out of reckoning for playoffs. He is nurturing an injury, and we are prioritising his fitness," an RR official told Cricbuzz.

The current 2025 season of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to resume on May 17, following a one-week suspension that began on May 9 due to the conflict between India and Pakistan. The first match after this brief interruption will see the Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosting the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 17. The playoff matches are set to start from May 29, with the highly anticipated final taking place on June 3.
