Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) joyous celebration after ending their 18-year-long wait to win first IPL title didn't last long. RCB's IPL 2025 title triumph took a tragic turn when a deadly stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, June 6 resulted in the loss of 11 lives, with around 33 sustaining injuries. This devastating incident cast a pall of gloom over the city, just a day after RCB finally ended their 18-year wait for the coveted IPL trophy. An estimated two lakh enthusiastic fans had gathered outside the stadium, and the sheer volume of the crowd overwhelmed the police's ability to maintain order, leading to utter chaos that left around 33 fans injured.

In a gesture of support to those affected by the tragedy, RCB and KSCA jointly announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the families who tragically lost their loved ones during the stampedes that occurred. However, in their joint statement, both RCB and KSCA emphasised that this financial contribution should not be perceived as a replacement for the immeasurable value of human life. Instead, it is intended to serve as a small token of support to help alleviate some of the immediate burdens faced by the grieving families as they navigate this profound moment of sorrow and loss.
