OUT! LBW! Mohammad Abbas has done it again, and he has the prized scalp of the English skipper. He lands this on a hard length and on off, gets it to jag back in sharply. As Mohammad Rizwan is standing up to the stumps, Joe Root does not move his feet and gets stuck on the crease, trying to defend but plays down the wrong line. The ball sneaks past the inside edge and hits him on the back pad. There is a big shout for LBW, and up goes the finger. Root has a chat with his partner but trudges off without taking the review. England are 36/3 now.

EDGED AND DROPPED BY IMAM! Mohammad Ali dangles the carrot, wide of off, and full, swinging away from the batter. Joe Root gets lured into a drive and he edges it off the outside half towards the left of Imam-ul-Haq at third slip. Imam dives to his left, the ball goes under his grip and it races to the third man region for two runs. 

Good length, wide of off, Joe Root covers his off-pole, reads that it is a straight one and leaves it.

Another one in the air but this time short of Ali Usman at backward point. Ali bowls it full and around off, Joe Root goes for a square drive but gets it sliced off the outside half of his bat towards the right of Ali Usman at backward point. The fielder does try to go for a catch but it lands well short of him. Single taken.

OUT! LBW! A brillaint review from Pakistan. Mohammad Abbas bowls this on that nagging length, around the off stump, nipping back into the batter. Ben Duckett looks to keep it out off his back foot but gets beaten as the ball shapes into him and gets hit on his back pad. A loud appeal for LBW but the umpire shakes it. Duckett is not that tall, and the ball did not have much distance to travel. Abbas looks confident and forces his skipper, Babar Azam, to send this upstairs, saying this was in line with the stumps and not high enough. Babar asks for DRS. Ball Tracking shows three reds, with the ball hitting the off pole, and the on-field decision is overturned to OUT. Ben Duckett departs cheaply as England's scorecard reads 26 for 2. 

Abbas bowls it full to Root first-up, on middle and off, shaping away from the batter. Joe Root almost gets squared up as he looks to flick it away but gets a leading edge to the off side for no run.

Another loud appeal for LBW, and the umpire doesn't raise his finger. Babar Azam sends this upstairs but without much conviction. Good length, wide of off, shaping back into the batter, Joe Root takes a baby step across the stumps and looks to keep it out but misses and gets rapped on his front pad. Ball Tracking shows that the impact was outside off, and Pakistan lose a review.

 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Unfortunate dismissal for Emilio Gay, but that is a superb catch from Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps. Mohammad Abbas errs in line and bowls a length delivery, down the leg side. Emilio Gay goes for a flick but gets it tickled off the bat towards the right of the keeper. Rizwan dives full stretch to his right and takes a brilliant catch to send Gay back. England are 21 for 1. 

 FOUR! England are off to a flying start here at Lord's. Khurram bowls this back of a length, wide outside off and shaping away from the batter. Emilio Gay steps across, rides the bounce and cuts this through the point region for four runs. 

This is much better from Khurram Shahzad. Pitched-up, around off, shaping away from the batter, Emilio Gay looks to block this off the front foot but gets beaten. 

Another sublime cover drive by Gay but he finds extra cover this time. 

Khurram peppers the short length again, nipping it back into the batter after pitching it around the fifth stump. Emilio Gay trusts the bounce here and shoulders his arms at it. Gets hit high on his thigh pad. 

On a length, around off, shaping back into the batter, Emilio Gay gets on top of the bounce and keeps it out. 

Khurram bowls it full again, around off, and shaping away from the batter this time. Emilio Gay punches this firmly to the right of Babar Azam at extra cover for a dot. 

Slightly back of a length, around off, going across the batter, Ben looks to guide this off his back foot through gully but gets beaten on his outside edge.

 FOUR! Ben ends the over with a boundary. Short and wide of off, Ben Duckett picks this length early, hops onto his back foot and uses fast hands to cut this past the left of the fielder at point for a boundary. 

Khurram Shahzad starts around the stumps, bowls it on a good length, shaping back into the batter, Gay gets behind the line of the ball and defends this out.

Full and wide outside off, with inwards movement on this as well. Emilio Gay covers his off-pole and leaves it all alone. 

Khurram has started with pinpoint accuracy here. The Pakistani pacer bowls on a good length, around the fourth and fifth stump line. Emilio Gay looks to block it off his front foot but the ball holds it's line and beats the batter on his outside edge. 

FOUR! A beautifully driven boundary for Gay to get off the mark. Khurram pitches this up and around the off stump, Emilio Gay strides right next to the pitch of the ball, meets it with the middle of his bat right underneath his eyeline and drives it grounded through covers for four runs.
