The ball would have gone on and hit the middle stump, but the umpire's call saved the day for Breetzke.

EDGED AND FOUR! Unlucky for Xavier Bartlett! He lands this back of a length and on off, shapes away with some steep bounce. Temba Bavuma tries to push it away but fails to get on top of the bounce. It takes the outside edge and flies past the diving first slip fielder to the third man fence for a boundary. Perhaps, taking out the second slip was not a good idea.

Josh Hazlewood bangs this one in short of a length outside off and gets it to climb sharply. Markram throws his hands at it, but fails to keep the shot down or clear the infield. The ball flies towards short cover, where Connolly launches himself and plucks it one-handed out of the air with his left hand. An incredible start for Australia as the Wanderers fall silent.
