An engaging Day 3 comes to an end and it's the visitors who end the day as the favourites. Three wickets including the big one of Welch have motivated them a lot and will be itching to finish off this game. Day 3 started with the hosts playing over with little to no lead in their hands. The skipper played his part with a fine fifty and so did a couple of batters who got a start but failed to capitalize into a big one. Tucker once again stepped up and scored a crucial fifty to get Ireland to 298.

The hosts were decent with the ball. Johnathan Campbell inspired a small comeback as he took the wicket of Tector right at the start of second session and that started the downfall. Wickets started to fall over but not in heaps as Ireland kept the scoreboard ticking. Zimbabwe had to chase a mammoth total of close to 300 which is never easy and in the process, the hosts lost both the openers but it's Welch's wicket which hurt them the most. Day 4 promises to be an exciting one and could be the final day as well in the game. Both teams still in the game but Ireland are the favourites. Do join us for action. The equation is simple - Ireland need 7 wickets while the hosts need 254 runs to win. The final session of Day 3 was massive in the context of the game. Tucker with the tail pushed for a score around 300 and thanks to his fifty, Ireland and in a commanding position to win. Zimbabwe on the other hand who had to bat for a nervy period negotiated the seamers well but only for a while as Barry McCarthy and Adair stuck to get rid of the openers.

The pivotal point of the game was the wicket of Welch. He was the star for the hosts in the first innings and Ireland have managed to get him out cheaply. Wessly Madhevere must have had a hard night's sleep as the hopes rest on his shoulders as Zimbabwe look for another 109 runs to win the match. They though have three wickets in hand and the onus is on Ireland to wrap things up with overcast conditions. Wessly Madhevere showed a lot of fight on Day 4 with all the rain around. Wickets started to tumble in a small period of play we had but Wessly Madhevere didn't give up easily. He single handedly showed a lot of fight and if he can somehow with the tail chase the target down, his name will be remembered for ages however, it looks close to impossible as Ireland have the tails up. A fine, fine win for the visitors! They were in massive trouble after electing to bat on Day 1. Their top order was blown away by Blessing Muzarabani and were reeling at 31 for 5. The lower order though came to the fore. The likes of McBrine and Adair took them to over 250 which looked impossible at one stage.

Zimbabwe in reply began well, thanks to Welch. However, he was fighting a lone battle and kept losing partners at the other end. At one stage, it seemed like the hosts would fall well short of the Irish score but the last wicket stand added over 50 to give them a 7 run lead. Blessing Muzarabani played a vital innings there.

Ireland batted brilliantly in their second essay, contributions from most of their batters saw them set a target of close to 300 which was always going to be difficult to chase and Zimbabwe couldn’t. Andy Balbirnie started well but it was Lorcan Tucker's fifty which proved to be the pivotal point.
