With this, the pair of Ravindra and Southee has become the first pair in the history of Test cricket to add more than 100 runs in the eighth wicket in India for New Zealand.

Coming back to the match, Rachin Ravindra and Tim Southee disrupted India's strong momentum by forming an unbeaten 112-run partnership, giving New Zealand full control of the opening Test on Day 3.

By the end of the first session, New Zealand had reached 345/7 in 81 overs, with Ravindra scoring 104 off 125 balls and Southee contributing 49 off 50. The team headed to lunch with a substantial lead of 299 runs.

Mohammed Siraj gets the first breakthrough for India on Day 3 as he picked up Daryl Mitchell. The Kiwi batter attempted to play a shot but only managed to edge the ball thickly, which Yashasvi Jaiswal comfortably caught at gully. In the process of taking the catch, Jaiswal injured his hand and had to receive a bandage.

Jasprit Bumrah seized the momentum, dismissing Tom Blundell before he could settle in. Struggling to gauge Bumrah's length, Blundell found himself indecisive, caught between moving forward and backward. He tried to cushion the ball but ended up edging it to KL Rahul at second slip.
