India and New Zealand will play a three-match T20I series, starting from January 21

As India prepares for the high-stakes five-match T20I series against New Zealand, pace maestro Jasprit Bumrah is set to spearhead the bowling attack starting January 21 in Nagpur. Ahead of the series opener at the VCA Stadium, the premier fast bowler resumed his training under the watchful eyes of a very special guest. Bumrah shared a heartwarming video of his session, which featured his young son, Angad, joining him on the field for a light practice run.

The training session took an adorable turn as the fierce pacer had to briefly pause his intense drills to focus on 'Junior Bumrah'. In a series of amusing and tender moments, the veteran bowler balanced his professional preparations with fatherhood, taking time out to play with Angad right on the training turf.

The video captured Bumrah encouraging his son to join in on the warm-up routines, creating a charming contrast to his usual aggressive on-field persona. At one point, Bumrah even asked Angad to watch closely as he ran in at full tilt to deliver a trademark ball at the stumps, offering a glimpse into the lighter side of one of the world's most feared competitors before the international battle begins.

“Now see how Dadda is doing it, okay. Look here," Bumrah told Angad to watch him bowl.

During the training session, Bumrah was accompanied by a trainer who not only assisted with the workout but also kept a playful eye on young Angad. The toddler, clearly inspired by his father’s routine, soon joined in the fun by picking up a cricket ball and attempting to mimic the world-class bowling action he was watching firsthand.

The session turned into a charming family coaching moment when the trainer encouraged Angad to throw the ball. Bumrah stepped in to guide his son’s enthusiasm, suggesting, "Woh udhar jaake karega" (He will do it from over there), pointing closer to the stumps to give the little one a better chance at hitting the target.

As the intensity of the practice picked up, Angad’s excitement grew. Every time Bumrah returned to the top of his bowling mark, the youngster could be heard repeatedly shouting, “Stumps fall down! Stumps fall down!” in anticipation of the delivery. After letting one fly at a brisk pace, Bumrah warmly handed the ball back to his son, asking if he wanted to bowl again, leading to another adorable attempt by the child to knock over the wickets.

Since the conclusion of the T20I series against South Africa in December, Jasprit Bumrah has been utilizing a period of well-deserved downtime to reconnect with his family and friends. This intentional break from the rigorous international schedule was granted to ensure the premier fast bowler remains both physically fit and mentally sharp for the high-intensity challenges ahead.

As a crucial match-winner for India, Bumrah's peak condition is a top priority for the national selectors, particularly with the 2026 T20 World Cup fast approaching. He is expected to be the cornerstone of the bowling attack for the Suryakumar Yadav-led squad when T20 World Cup 2026 officially kicks off on February 7.
