Daniel Morrison plied his trade for the New Zealand cricket team in the years between 1987 to 1996. He was essentially a pace bowler with an outswinger capable of causing damage. Apart from this, he was considered a handy batsman but never quite contributed much with the bat for the team's cause. Morrison was blessed with the ability to swing the ball and had pin-point accuracy. Additionally, a well disguised slower one in his arsenal made him a complete strike bowler. He went for a few runs initially but later developed himself into one of 'The Black Caps' premier bowlers.

Morrison started off his international career with a call-up to the ODI team to face India in 1987. He did not have a dream debut. In fact, he got carted around the park for 69 runs off his 10-over spell. However, from here on he grew from strength to strength. Replacing the great Richard Hadlee was by no means an easy task, but the ever-smiling paceman took up the challenge and it paid dividends for his team. One of his most notable contributions to the team was his hat-trick against India in 1994, when he dismissed Kapil Dev, Salil Ankola and Nayan Mongia off successive deliveries. He had a fairly successful Test debut picking up four wickets in the first innings.

Following retirement, Morrison took to television and commentary. He has been employed in numerous stations and channels and is usually available for most major tournaments. The IPL 2011 saw a lot of Morrison at the toss and in the commentary box. Here as well, he exuded his good natured humor and wit to keep the audience entertained. Apart from television, he has also worked with radio stations as a cricket specialist and leading channels.
