Hamid Hassan is a talented right-arm fast bowler who can surprise the batsmen with his blistering pace. He has the ability to swing the ball both ways, and is a crucial lower order batsman apart from being a livewire in the field.

Hassan holds the distinction of being the first ever Afghanistan player to play at Lord's when he played for MCC against a select Europe XI. His talent was first spotted in 2006 while playing for Afghanistan against MCC and since then he has grown leaps and bounds. He made his ODI debut against Scotland in the 2009 ICC World Cup Qualifiers in South Africa and ended up with spectacular figures 3/33 from 8 overs. He was instrumental in helping Afghanistan win the 2010 ACC Trophy. In 2012 he was signed up by Barisal Burners to play in the Bangladesh Premier League.
