A career sufficed with injuries sustained due to a fall from the stairs at the MCG, a dog biting accident to say the least, has threatened Shane Harwood's career to doom before it could bloom. He has been playing for almost a decade, but he came onto the international bandwagon with a wicket of his first ball in the IPL in 2009.

Harwood was only the third oldest Australian to make an ODI debut behind Bob Holland and Bob Simpson. "Stickers" kicked off his career at an age of 28 in the Pura cup for Victoria where he became only the third Australian to take a hat-trick on debut. He made the cut to the Caribbean World Cup in 2007 for the 30-man squad, but failed to make it to the playing eleven.

Harwood was finally called on for national duty representing Australia for Twenty-20's against South Africa.Utterly impressed with his form and consistency, the legendary Shane Warne called on for selectors to induce Harwood into the tour of South Africa in 2005-06, but unfortunately, the talented cricketer’s career could not hold on his weak legs.
