A talented soccer player, Shingirai Masakadza decided to switch over to cricket in 2008, and since then has been a force to reckon with in domestic cricket. The all-rounder is already being touted as a player with enough potential to turn around the fortunes of Zimbabwe cricket.

Masakadza was the most successful seamer in Zimbabwe's 2009-10 domestic competition and also played a huge part in leading his franchise, Mountaineers to both the 50-over and T20 titles that year. Handed an ODI debut against West Indies in 2010, the pacer had an indifferent start to his career as he was carted around the park, but also ended up with three wickets. Figures of 4-86 against South Africa reiterated the fact that he could be expensive but yet be among the wickets.

A genuinely quick bowler, the speedster has a very good slower delivery which comes out of the back of the hand and is hard to pick. He is also an accomplished lower-order batsman. Shingirai is not a finished article just yet but his penchant for learning coupled with right guidance can propel him to the pinnacle of success.
