A ten-wicket haul on debut and finishing the Ranji season with 41 wickets gave Sudeep Tyagi a grand entry in the domestic scene. Tall, lean and lively, the seamer was spotted by Uttar Pradesh captain, Mohammad Kaif. He played a vital role claiming nine wickets against Andhra Pradesh, which pushed the team into the Ranji finals. His performance in the Challenger trophy final earned him a call-up to the national side for ODIs against Australia in 2009.

A back injury prevented Tyagi from making his IPL debut in 2008 but he recovered in time for the 2009 edition in South Africa. He was signed once again by the Chennai Super Kings for the 2011 IPL season. Later, he was bagged by the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the sixth season in 2013.
