About Tanvir Ahmed
In a country recognised for its young fast bowling talents, Tanvir has made an exceptional achievement in making it to the national team at the age of 31.
A Waqar Younis fan since his growing up days, the apprentice even modelled his action on the bowling legend followed by a debut for Karachi in 1998-99 season. Over the years, he has played for several Karachi teams in addition to playing for Sindh and Baluchistan. However he came into reckoning only in 2009-10, when his sensational performances in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy earned him a place in Pakistan’s Test squad for the England tour. He then went on to make his Test as well as ODI debut in late 2010 and early 2011. Though he didn’t get the chance to play, he continues to remain in the selector’s scheme of things because of his ability to swing the new ball and reverse with the old. He was drafted into the squad for Pakistan's Test series in South Africa, 2013.
