Born in Bogra, Bangladesh, Towhid Hridoy is an exciting right-handed batter known for his consistency and adaptability. His journey to international cricket began with impressive performances at the domestic and youth levels, making him a key prospect for Bangladesh’s future.

Hridoy made his first-class debut during the 2017-18 National Cricket League season, representing Rajshahi Division. His early performances earned him a place in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand, where he emerged as a standout performer. Although Bangladesh finished in fifth place, Hridoy was the only Bangladeshi centurion in the tournament, showcasing his ability to perform on big stages.

After returning from New Zealand, he made his List A debut for Shinepukur Cricket Club, further establishing himself in Bangladesh’s domestic circuit. His rise continued when he was picked by Sylhet Strikers for the 2019 Bangladesh domestic league.

Hridoy was later named vice-captain of Bangladesh’s 2020 Under-19 World Cup squad. While his performances with the bat were modest, his leadership played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s historic first-ever Under-19 World Cup triumph. In 2021, he made headlines by scoring his maiden first-class double century for BCB South Zone, reinforcing his credentials as a long-format player.

After knocking on the doors of the national team for a couple of years, Hridoy made his T20I debut against England in March 2023. Later that month, he also received his maiden ODI cap against Ireland. In his debut ODI innings in Sylhet, he scored a remarkable 92 off 85 balls, setting a record for the highest score by a Bangladeshi on ODI debut. Apart from his exploits in Bangladesh’s domestic leagues, Hridoy has also played in the Sri Lankan Premier League for Jaffna Kings, gaining valuable experience in foreign conditions.

In February 2024, he further stamped his authority in T20 cricket by smashing his maiden T20 century for Comilla Victorians in the BPL, helping his team chase a target of 176. His dominant batting displays led to his inclusion in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

With experienced batters occupying the top order, Hridoy has been moved to the middle order, a role he has embraced with confidence. His sound technique, composure, and ability to rotate the strike make him an invaluable asset for Bangladesh’s batting lineup. Ever since his international debut, Hridoy has continued to grow in stature, proving himself as a dependable batter in all formats.
