Shubman Gill to meet Lionel Messi in New Delhi.

Lionel Messi arrival in Delhi delayed due to fog.

India Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill will join Lionel Messi for his Delhi leg of the GOAT India tour, which is taking place at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Sports Tak understands that Gill, who featured for India in the third T20I against South Africa at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, will join Lionel Messi at Qila Kotla for the final leg of the GOAT India tour.

Why was Messi's arrival in Delhi delayed?

Lionel Messi's arrival for the final leg of his G.O.A.T. Tour here has been delayed after his flight was deferred due to inclement weather. The Argentina World Cup-winning captain was in Mumbai for the second day of his three-day whirlwind trip to India. He was to land in the national capital earlier this morning, but his charter flight was held up due to foggy conditions. At around 3:30 PM, Messi will enter the stadium through the walkway leading to the pitch. Vehicles will be stationed there to take him directly to the airport once the GOAT concert ends.

Messi to play a football match

He will receive a grand welcome with music before heading to a small football field, where a match involving Indian celebrities will be underway. Messi will greet the players and pose for group photos with the teams.

A football clinic for 22 children is scheduled from 3:55 PM to 4:15 PM. After that, Messi will move to the centre of the field, where two Indian cricketers will present him with a gift. In return, Messi will hand over two pre-signed jerseys to them. Notably, here in Arun Jaitley Stadium they have made two nets for the football match.
