Tamil Nadu's Narayan Jagadeesan played a towering 321-run knock against Chandigarh.

Narayan Jagadeesan ran riot with the bat and belted a stunning triple century for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy 2023-2024 match against Chandigarh on January 27. With his towering knock Narayan Jagadeesan became the batter with highest ever individual score for Tamil Nadu in Men's First-Class cricket.

The former-Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter also emerged as the second player to hit a triple century in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, notching a personal best of 321. Jagadeesan joined Hyderabad's opener Tanmay Agarwal, who made an impressive 366 runs from 181 balls against Arunachal Pradesh. Jagadeesan earlier recorded scores of 25, 9, and an unbeaten 245 in the ongoing season.

On a pitch where Chandigarh was bundled out for just 111 in their first innings, the Tamil Nadu batter had a field day. Jagadeesan batted with extraordinary determination, scoring runs all around the park. He was involved in two two double-century partnerships. Jagadeesan shared a 233-run partnership with Pradosh Ranjan Paul, who scored 105, and then put together a 280-run stand with Baba Indrajith, who made 123, leading to Tamil Nadu declaring their innings at 610/4.

With his latest performance, the 28-year-old has now accumulated 2,395 runs in First-Class cricket from 37 matches, maintaining an average above 40. This innings marked his eighth century in the format, in addition to seven half-centuries. His previous innings of an unbeaten 245 against Railways was his first double-century in red-ball cricket. Remarkably, he is the first player to hit back-to-back double centuries in the current season.

Jagadeesan had a notable stint in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy, ending up as the third-highest run-scorer for Tamil Nadu. He amassed 534 runs in seven matches at an average of 48.54, including two centuries. Only Pradosh Ranjan Paul, with 631 runs, and Sai Sudharsan, with 572 runs, outscored him.
