India will lock horns with England for three T20Is and as many ODIs against England after the conclusion of the rearranged fifth Test between the two sides at Edgbaston in Birmingham which ended in 2-2 draw after the Ben Stokes-led side romped the Jasprit Bumrah-led side by seven wickets in the final Test. On the eve of the first T20I between India and England, Sharma was seen answering all the questions revolving around the series in a press conference. He gave a shocking statement saying that the T20I series against England is not a preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022.

England's stunning onslaught denied India the historic win at Edgbaston as England romped Jasprit Bumrah-led side by seven wickets in the rescheduled fifth and the final Test to level the long due five-match series 2-2 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pant left the England skipper Ben Stokes awestruck as the star all-rounder said that the way he plays he could very well fit in their team. Speaking after the game, Stokes said, "He is someone who would fit very well in our team at the moment, Rishabh, the way that he goes about to play the game."
