Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh bagged his maiden fifer in Vijay Hazare Trophy. Punjab's Arshdeep took five wickets for 38 runs to wreck Mumbai's batting order at ADSA Railways Cricket Ground, Ahmedabad on December 28. 

Arshdeep wreaks havoc

Arshdeep struck in his first over. He dismissed Angkrish Raghuvanshi lbw for a single-digit score. In his next over, he dismissed Ayush Mhatre for a single-digit score. From the other end, Sanvir Singh got rid of wicketkeeper-batter Hardik Tamore for a golden duck. Against the new ball, Suryakumar Yadav had a short stay at the crease. He departed for a five-ball duck. In-form Mumbai skipper Shreyas Iyer hit a couple of fours and a six before getting knocked over by the left-arm pacer.

Mumbai lost half their side for 28 runs. Shivam Dube and Suryansh Shedge tried to get the innings back on track. Dube hit three fours in his 17-run knock before he became Arshdeep's fifth victim of the day. Mumbai were reduced to 61 for 6 in the 13th over.

Lower order rescues Mumbai

Mumbai did some damage control after Arshdeep was taken off the attack by Abhishek Sharma. Shedge missed his half-century as he lost his wicket to Raghu Sharma. He hit four fours and three sixes in his 43-ball 44. Atharva Ankolekar and Shardul Thakur shared a 93-run partnership for the eighth wicket. Left-arm spinner Abhishek prevented Thakur from scoring a half-century. He scored 43 runs from 45 balls including four fours and a six.

Atharva Ankolekar smashed three sixes and a couple of fours in his 84-ball 66. He was dismissed by Abhishek as well. Himanshu Singh who scored 19 runs from 27 balls was the last to fall to Prerit Dutta. Royston Dias remained unbeaten for 18 off 32 balls as Mumbai were bowled out for 248 from 48.5 overs. Arshdeep bowled his full quota of 10 overs and conceded 38 runs to take five wickets. He has made a statement ahead of the squad announcement for ODI series against England. 

Prabhsimran scores century in run chase

In reply, Prabhsimran Singh and Abhishek shared a 150-run stand. Abhishek smashed five sixes and four fours before falling to Mhatre. The skipper scored 66 runs from 54 balls. Anmolpreet Singh fell cheaply as Thakur dismissed him in the 25th over. Prabhsimran scored a century in the run chase. He cleared the fence with ease during his flamboyant knock.
