Rishabh Pant is currently in Pune along with Rohit Sharma-led India.

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) are likely to part ways with their captain Rishabh Pant ahead of the upcoming deadline and IPL mega auction. Earlier, the wicketkeeper batter looked like a sure-shot retention for the Delhi-based franchise for the marquee event. Just months back, Delhi Capitals' co-owner Parth Jindal had declared that Pant would be their top retention, but looks like, the plan has gone completely off-track.

As per TOI, Delhi Capitals are now taking their time to finalise the decision surrounding Pant due to the major overhaul in the running of the franchise's operations, with the GMR group now being in charge of the franchise for the next two years.

The same report states that the franchise does want to retain Pant but certain modalities need to be worked out with JSW and GMR splitting responsibilities for the IPL.

Pant who made his comeback in IPL 2024 after recovering from a near-fatal accident in December 2022 ended his IPL 2024 campaign as the highest run-getter for Delhi in the last edition of the tournament scoring 446 runs in 13 innings with the highest score of 88.

After his impressive performance in the cash-rich league, the wicketkeeper batter was included in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad where he scored 171 runs in eight matches with a highest score of 42 runs.

He is currently part of India's Test squad against New Zealand where he scored 119 runs in two innings in the first Test match in Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium. He is currently preparing for the second Test match which is scheduled to take place in Pune.

IPL mega auction dates

As Sports Tak earlier reported, the Indian Premier League mega auction will take place outside India because of the wedding season in the country. The mega auction will take place from November 24 and 25 in Riyadh.
