Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria lavished praise on India head coach Gautam Gambhir for his decision-making ability. Gambhir was appointed the head coach after Rahul Dravid's contract ended with T20 World Cup 2024 win. Gambhir joined the Indian squad for the Sri Lanka tour where Team India played a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series where Men in Blue won the T20I series but lost the ODIs 2-0.
Pakistan cricket are currently facing a major downfall, they recently lost the two-match Test series against Bangladesh for the first time in the history of the longest format of the game.
"Why if you don't make tough decisions, things will not work. Why today other teams are doing so well Why is the Indian team is doing so well? They had a Rahul Dravid who worked with the team very well now they have Gautam Gambhir fantastic cricketer and a fantastic guy the way he reacts he tells on the face he doesn't go back and do backbiting; he's on the face straight away. This is how you have to be. You have to be strong, and like a strong person, you have to decide on the face not at the back” said Kaneria.
Kaneria said that Gambhir can tell anything on their face and doesn't go back and do backbiting. Before joining Team India, Gambhir was the mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders where he helped the franchise to register a historic IPL title. Under Gambhir's mentorship, KKR became the first franchise who get IPL titles with different captains.
