Australia's bowling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who planned to shoulder charge Virat Kohli in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has declared himself fit for the second pink-ball Test against India which is scheduled to start from December 6 at Adelaide Oval. Marsh had pulled up sore after bowling 19.3 overs in the Perth Test, where Jasprit Bumrah-led India registered a 295 runs-dominating win to take 1-0 lead in five Test match series.
After Marsh's injury, Cricket Australia added uncapped allrounder Beau Webster into the squad as his cover. Webster practised alongside Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Steve Smith, Travis Head and Alex Carey at the Adelaide Oval Nets on Monday afternoon (local time).
“The body’s all good, yep. Nah nah, I’m good to go. Yep, I’ll be there," said Marsh in a conversation with Channel Nine after arriving in Adelaide on Monday night.
If Australia go with Marsh then they will have to decide between Webster and Scott Boland to take the injured Josh Hazlewood’s place.
On the other hand, India captain Rohit Sharma and young batter Shubman Gill also joined the squad for the pink ball Test scheduled to take place in Adelaide. Rohit missed the first Test match he was on paternity leave and Shubman who was sweating out in WACA alongside Team India fractured his thumb while fielding during India's match simulation session.
Mitchell Marsh's plan for Virat Kohli
Before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Mitchell Marsh said that he will shoulder charge Virat Kohli when he gets his thirty.
“I think I’m going to shoulder charge him when he gets to 30, just take him out,” Marsh was quoted as saying by Fox Sports.
Virat Kohli's performance at Adelaide Oval
Virat Kohli featured in Test matches at Adelaide Oval where he scored 509 runs in eight innings at an average of 63.62, with three centuries and a fifty. His best score is 141. If Kohli manages to smash one more century then he will surpass England's Jack Hobbs for most Test centuries at this venue by a visiting batter, with both having scored three centuries at Adelaide.
