Highlights:

As the IPL teams gear up for the 2024 auction, their remaining budgets are a crucial aspect to consider.

Royal Challengers Bangalore leads with the highest budget of Rs 40.75 crore.

The IPL 2024 retention deadline day witnessed significant changes, with a total of 85 players being released across teams. The day's most notable development came from Gujarat Titans, who chose to retain their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya. This decision debunked earlier speculations of Pandya possibly being traded to Mumbai Indians. As of November 26, Pandya remains with Gujarat Titans, but the situation may evolve as the player trade window stays open until a week before the IPL 2024 auction, scheduled for December 19 in the UAE.

Delhi Capitals confirmed retaining Rishabh Pant, following Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly's assurance earlier in the month. Pant's retention is contingent on his full recovery from injuries sustained in a road accident in December 2022.

Among the key highlights of the IPL retention deadline day were several high-profile releases. Jofra Archer, the England fast bowler grappling with injuries, was let go by Mumbai Indians. In a significant move related to player workload management, Ben Stokes and Joe Root opted out of the IPL 2024 season.

SunRisers Hyderabad made a notable decision by releasing Harry Brook, a significant England batter whom they had acquired for Rs 13.25 crore last year. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings retained Sam Curran, and Mumbai Indians held on to Cameron Green, despite varying reports.

As the IPL teams gear up for the 2024 auction, their remaining budgets are a crucial aspect to consider. Royal Challengers Bangalore leads with the highest budget of Rs 40.75 crore. SunRisers Hyderabad follows with Rs 34 crore, and Kolkata Knight Riders have Rs 32.7 crore at their disposal. Chennai Super Kings' budget stands at Rs 31.4 crore, while Punjab Kings have Rs 29.1 crore. Delhi Capitals have Rs 28.95 crore, Mumbai Indians Rs 15.25 crore, and Rajasthan Royals Rs 14.5 crore.

These budget allocations and player retentions/releases will play a significant role in shaping team strategies for the IPL 2024 season. The auction in the UAE will be a critical event, where teams will look to bolster their squads with the right mix of talent and experience, keeping in mind their financial constraints and strategic needs.
