Pakistan are currently facing a major downfall in cricket.

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali said that the Pakistan Cricket Board should copy India's style of domestic cricket ahead of their upcoming Champions Cup which will take place after the second Test match against Bangladesh. PCB have announced their domestic tournament as Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup, and Champions First-Class Cup where the cricket board have already appointed five mentors to guide the youngsters from all five teams. The five mentors are Misbah-ul Haq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Waqar Younis and Saqlain Mushtaq. They have a three-year contract with the cricketing board.

According to the details, each mentor will receive an annual amount of 5 million rupees, totalling 15 million rupees over the three-year term.

Pakistan Cricket are currently on a major downfall as they have failed to perform since the 2022 T20 World Cup. After that, they failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024. They recently lost the Test match against Bangladesh for the first time in the history of red-ball cricket.

“There will be a One-Day tournament called the Champions Cup after the Test series. Pakistan have copied the systems of England, Australia, and New Zealand. India is right next to us, please copy their system too. You need intelligence in copying as well. Just copy what India is doing. The Duleep Trophy is about to begin. Is it a T20 or One-Day tournament? It is a four-day tournament. They are focused on making their base stronger, which is why they are so successful,” he said on YouTube.

After losing the Test match against Bangladesh, the Pakistan cricket team led by Shan Masood faced a lot of heat for their performance and squad selection. The Men in Green featured with all the speedsters considering that the Rawalpindi pitch will help speedsters but the surface helped spinners to get a breakthrough and that helped Bangladesh to defeat Pakistan on their home soil.

Now, the second Test match will take place on August 30 at the same venue and PCB have announced updated squad for the series decider.
