In the latest developments from the world of Indian domestic cricket, former Indian Test cricketers and renowned Delhi cricket luminaries - Maninder Singh, Manoj Prabhakar, and Ajay Sharma - have all expressed interest in the coveted position of head coach for Delhi's Ranji team for the imminent season.

Sources close to the matter hint that Abhay Sharma, who was at the helm last season, may not continue in the role. However, bucking expectations, Sharma has chosen to reapply, sparking keen interest among cricketing circles. Abhay's coaching legacy with the Delhi team is noteworthy, with stints not only as the head coach but also as the team's bowling coach. Moreover, adding to the intrigue, former Indian all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar, known for his versatile skills, has previously held both these roles with the Delhi squad.

Meanwhile, Ajay Ratra, another contender, brings with him recent coaching experience. He guided the North Zone team in prestigious tournaments like the Duleep and Deodhar Trophy. His application adds an interesting twist to the selection narrative.

Another notable applicant is Gursharan Singh, whose association with Delhi cricket has been both profound and longstanding. A former Delhi and Punjab batter who clinched the Ranji Trophy and even donned the Indian Test jersey once, Gursharan has a reputation for showing keen interest in several cricketing roles within the Delhi setup. His consistent involvement with the Delhi cricket environment, including a stint with the Cricket Advisory Committee last year, bolsters his application.

In addition to these heavyweights from Delhi cricket, the selection panel will also consider applications from outside Delhi's cricketing realm. Former Baroda captain Jacob Martin and ex-Madhya Pradesh off-spinner Rajesh Chauhan have thrown their hats into the ring. Their applications will ensure a diverse pool of talent for the selectors to choose from, making the selection process for the next head coach of Delhi's Ranji team one of the most keenly watched events in the run-up to the upcoming cricketing season.
