Mohammed Shami has been granted bail in a domestic violence case.Mohammed Shami is a part of India's ODI squad for the home series against Australia.

On September 19, the Alipore court granted India men's cricket team fast bowler Mohammed Shami bail on two thousand rupees bail bond. Shami appeared before Kolkata's Alipore ACJM court on September 19 in person where he was granted bail.

According to the FIR filed by Hasin Jahan in Jadavpur police station in 2018, a case of domestic violence had been filed against Shami and some of his family members. Thereafter, legal proceedings got underway against Shami.

Before India began their preparations for World Cup 2023 with a three-ODI series against Australia at home, Shami appeared in court for the first time after accusations of torture by his ex-wife. He applied for the bail which was granted by the Alipoure court on the same day.

On August 23, the Alipur Additional Sessions Judge ruled that there was no compelling reason to summon Shami based on Hasin's complaint. Consequently, the cricketer is not required to appear in court currently. However, within the upcoming 30 days, Shami will need to approach the trial court for further developments in the case.

During this timeframe, he has the option to apply for bail. The trial court will make a decision on Shami's bail in accordance with the law. After this ruling, Shami presented himself in court and was subsequently granted bail.

Shami will be seen in action or on the bench when stand-in skipper KL Rahul-led India take on Pat Cummins’ Australia in Mohali on September 22. The next two ODIs will be played on September 24 and 27.

The 33-year-old was a part of India's Asia Cup squad as well. He played against Nepal and picked up a wicket for 29 runs. Later, in the dead rubber clash against Bangladesh, he picked up two wickets from eight overs. However, India lost the match to Shakib Al Hasan’s Bangladesh by six runs, their only defeat in the tournament.
