New challenge for Indian World Cup winner: To participate in Lanka Premier League auction with base price of Rs 41 Lakhs

Former star India batter Suresh Raina will be participating in the Lanka Premier League 2023 season after he registered his name in the tournament for a base price of $50,000 i.e. about Rs 41 Lakh. The auction is set to be held on June 14 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo.

There are five teams which will participate in the Lanka Premier League (LPL). All five teams have selected four players as icons and a total of 358 players from India and abroad have been included in the auction.

Suresh Raina has been away from professional cricket for a while now. He played in the Abu Dhabi T10 League in 2022 when he scored 35 runs in three innings. After this, he played in the Legends League Masters in March where he appeared in five matches, scoring 89 runs. In March, he played two matches in the Legends Cricket Trophy. In one of these, he scored an unbeaten 90 nit could not open his account in the other.

 

Which Indian players have played in the LPL

 

Munaf Patel, Manpreet Gony, Manvinder Bisla, Irfan Pathan and Sudeep Tyagi have previously played in the Lanka Premier League as only Indian players who have retired from cricket can play in this tournament. BCCI does not allow their contracted players to play in foreign leagues.
