India takes 1-0 lead in five Test match series against Australia.

Australia star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell lavished praise on India's star players Jasprit Bumrah, and Yashasvi Jaiswal after Men in Blue defeated Pat Cummins & Co. in the Perth Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Bumrah who was leading India in Rohit Sharma's absence rattled Australia with his bowling as he ended the Test picking eight wickets. On the other hand, Jaiswal was playing his maiden Test on Australian soil and the left-handed batter smashed 161 runs in the second innings.

Maxwell shared his thoughts on The Grade Cricketer podcast following Bumrah's match-winning performance in the opening game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium, Perth.

“They (India) have got two genuine generational talents at the peak of their powers which is Bumrah and Jaiswal," Maxwell said on ‘The Grade Cricketer’ podcast.

“I have said this before Bumrah is going to go down as potentially the best fast bowler of all time. Maybe not with the number of wickets he takes in every format but for the guys that have played against him it is just so difficult" said the Australia all-rounder.

Maxwell further added that Bumrah's unique action, unique ability with the ball and the bowling in his armoury made him a complete package.

“He’s just got such unique action, unique ability with the ball to get it to move and rush you, he can beat you on the outside edge, inside edge and he’s got a quick sniff good slower ball, he seems like a complete package," he said.

After getting all out on 150 runs in the first inning, India's stand-in skipper Bumrah's five-wicket haul helped India to bundle out the hosts on 104 runs. After coming to bat in the second innings, India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul stitched a historic partnership of 201 runs and after that former India captain Virat Kohli scored his 30th Test century to give Australia a mammoth target of 524 runs.

After coming to bowl in the second innings, Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj got three wickets each, debutants Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy got one and Washington Sundar got two.
