India's star wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has captained Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) since their maiden Indian Premier League season 2022. Now, he is parting ways with the franchise as Delhi Capitals (DC) bought him for a whopping Rs 14 crores. After a nail-biting bidding war between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Delhi Capitals entered into the fray and got KL Rahul who released their captain Rishabh Pant.

KL Rahul took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter to thank coaches, teammates and the fans of the Lucknow-based franchise after joining DC for the upcoming season. Fans started reacting as he didn't mention the name of franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka.

Earlier, during the IPL 2024, KL Rahul, leading LSG, had an animated public chat with owner Sanjiv Goenka after the franchise lost their do-or-die clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 wickets. Pat Cummins-led SRH chased down a 66-run target inside 10 overs and after the game, Goenka was seen having an animated chat with KL Rahul, leading to controversy and a number of cricketers and fans slammed the franchise owner for his taking things public.

However, KL Rahul also opened up on his animated chat with the LSG owner after getting picked by Delhi Capitals. The Bengaluru-based cricketer reckoned that the incident affected the entire franchise.

“Whatever happened on the field after the game wasn’t the nicest thing to be part of or something that anyone wants to see on the cricket field. So yeah, I think it did affect the entire group,” Rahul said to Star Sports.

LSG brought former Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant in the mega auction at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as for a whopping 27 crore which is the most expensive buy in the history of the tournament.
