PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi to meet Jay Shah to discuss Champions Trophy 2025.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi will meet the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and future ICC chairman Jay Shah for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2024. Pakistan are the current host of the Champions Trophy 2025 but arch-rivals India are yet to decide whether to travel to the neighbouring nation of the marquee event.

After the ICC delegation’s review and subsequent approval of arrangements at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Gaddafi Stadium, and the National Stadium, a meeting is set to be held between PCB Chairman Naqvi and Jay Shah.

Jay Shah is currently the BCCI secretary and the Asian Cricket Council President. He is also set to take over as the ICC Chairman starting December 1 of this year ahead of Champions Trophy 2025.  The meeting between Jay Shah and Mohsin Naqvi will take place at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 final according to Geo News, which will be held on October 20.

The PCB is currently awaiting approval of the schedule for the highly anticipated global cricket tournament set to take place in Pakistan. Once the schedule is finalized, the ICC is expected to announce it towards the end of October.

Mohsin Naqvi will also discuss about India's participation in the marquee event. Team India have not travelled to Pakistan since 2008. Arch-rivals have not played a bilateral cricket series since 2013, but they continue to face each other in ICC and ACC events at neutral venues or in India. On the other hand, Pakistan travelled to India in 2023 for the ODI World Cup where they failed to perform in the marquee event.

Earlier, Pakistan were the hosts of Asia Cup 2023 but BCCI denied sending Indian cricketers to the neighbouring nation for the tournament. Because of India's strong take the Asia Cup 2023 was played in hybrid model where Sri Lanka hosted all India-centric matches.
