Champions Trophy 2025 will be hosted by Pakistan in February next year and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to take a call on whether Rohit Sharma-led side will travel to the neighbouring nation for the marquee event. There are chances that BCCI may refuse to send India's team to Pakistan for the tournament citing players' security. However, ICC have already allotted a budget to Pakistan Cricket Board for hosting the Champions Trophy. As per the reports, ICC recently approved a budget of approximately $65 million at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Colombo.
This budget also includes the cost of staging the event if it is necessary to play some matches outside Pakistan so this means if the India cricket board refuses to travel to Pakistan then India's centric matches will be played at a neutral venue.
As per a report in Cricbuzz, the Chief Executives Committee (CEC) approval note says: "PCB has signed Host Agreement and has worked with management to draft an event budget which is submitted F&CA for approval. Management has also approved an estimate of the increase in the cost of staging the event if it is necessary to play some matches outside Pakistan."
"A planning meeting and inspection of proposed match venues took place in Pakistan in March 2024. A significant amount of renovation work is underway in all three venues to upgrade facilities", the note further read.
As per the draft schedule, Champions Trophy 2025 will be played from February 19 and March 9 where there will be a reserve day for the final. Here is the draft schedule for the marquee event.
