In an effort to raise awareness of tuberculosis, political leaders and movie stars played a friendly T20 cricket match on Saturday. Abhineta XI defeated Neta XI by two wickets. With former Congress MP Mohammad Azharuddin scoring an undefeated 54 and Trinamool Congress MP Yusuf Pathan scoring 119 runs, the Neta XI amassed 249 for three wickets.
BJP MP Anurag Thakur was undefeated with an 18-run score, while Chandrashekhar Azad of Nagina scored 29. The movie stars, however, played a steady game to reach 251 for the loss of eight wickets and win the match with four balls remaining, thus the politicians' huge hitting was in vain.
While Thakur captained the Neta XI, actor Suniel Shetty led the Abhineta XI. To raise awareness of tuberculosis, Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde attended the game at the MCA Cricket Stadium.
Ram Mohan Naidu, Manoj Tiwari, Azharuddin, Pathan, Shrikant Shinde, Lavu Sri Krishna, Deepender Hooda, Gurmeet Hayer, K Sudhakar, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Kamlesh Paswan were among the players in Thakur's Neta XI.
The Abhineta XI led by Shetty had Sohail Khan, Sharad Kelkar, Raja Bhervani, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Daruwala Freddy, Sameer Kochar, Navdeep Tomar, Sunny Deol, Abhishek Kapoor, Siddharth Jadhav and Muddasir Bhat as players
