About Somerset Team

The Somerset County Cricket Club represents the county of Somerset and is based at Taunton. It was founded in 1875. The club's limited overs team was earlier known as the Somerset Sabres, but was later changed to Somerset.

Somerset have had their own share of success and failure in the Twenty20 format and have so far managed to win just one T20 title under the captaincy of Justin Langer. The team played the 2009 Champions League T20 held in India, which was Langer's final appearance for the club. Following Langer's retirement, Marcus Trescothick took over the captaincy. Somerset finished as runners-up in almost all the competitions, including the domestic T20 title in 2011, where they went down to Leicestershire. But, the club qualified to play in the Champions League T20 for the second time.
