Australia's batters have been hugely benefited in the latest ICC men's Test batting rankings after their stunning show in the just-concluded World Test Championship (WTC) final against India. The troika of Travis Head, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne claimed top-three spots in the batting rankings. Meanwhile, only one Indian batter in Rishabh Pant have found a place in the top-10 of the batting standings.
Head's scintillating century in Australia's first innings in the WTC final at the Oval has earned him the second place in the rankings as he jumped three places up with a rating point of 884. Notably, he wallopped a splendid 163 off 174 riding on 25 fours and a six to help Australia pile a colossal 469-run total in the first innings.
Another Australian willowman, Smith who two struck a brilliant century in the first innings improved by a place and notched no.2 place in the rankings with a rating point of 885, just one ahead of teammate Head. Smith cracked an impressive 121 off 268 riding on 19 fours in Australia's WTC title triumph.
Meanwhile, Labuschagne, who scored 26 and 41 respectively in the WTC final, continues to rule the rankings with a rating point of 903.
On the other hand, New Zealand's batting juggernaut Kane Williamson lost the second spot by Smith and slipped to fourth place in the Test batting rankings. Usman Khawaja, who couldn't fire with the bat in the WTC final against India, too slipped to ninth place. Notably, Pakistan's Babar Azam and England's Joe Root found themselves going down in the standings by a place each to grab fifth and sixth place with rating points of 862 and 861 respectively.
Notably, New Zeland's Daryl Mitchell and Sri Lanka's jumped by a place each and are no.7 and no.8 in the Men's Test batting rankings.
The only India batter, who is in the top-10 is Rishabh Pant, who is out of action for a while now after picking serious injuries in a horrible car crash last year. As far as other India batters are concerned, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are static on 12th and 13th place respectively.
