Former Cameroon skipper Samuel Eto'o was seen in a clip kneeing a man in the face which knocked the victim down in an altercation after Brazil’s 4-1 victory over South Korea.
The incident took place outside the 974 Stadium in Doha on Monday night as Eto'o charged at a man who was holding a camera either trying to take a picture of him or film him while he was posing for selfies with fans. The former Cameroon star seemed to have taken offence to something that the individual said, which later embroiled into Eto'o coming to blows with him.
The African great, who has featured for some of the top clubs in the world, burst into anger and repeatedly tried to attack the man holding the camera and had to be restrained in the process of verbal confrontation. The video was posted to a Twitter handle going by the name of El Partidazo de COPE.
After initially trying to hurt the journalist, Eto'o went on to chase the man, who continued to backtrack while still trying to film him, before he was stopped. After the two were separated and kept at bay from each other, Eto'o was seen handing his phone to someone, while a man from his security attempted to get hold of the camera from the man.
Eto'o then extricated himself from the two men holding him back, and rushed towards the man he had a furious row with, and kneed him brutally in the face.
The former striker, who played for several marquee clubs across Europe including Barcelona, Inter and Chelsea, was then hauled away by members of his entourage. Meanwhile, the man with the camera was able to get to his feet and walked in the opposite direction.
According to the report, Eto’o was asked what had happened by reporters, but did not explain what had caused the confrontation.
