Ending a 73-race winless streak for Stewart-Haas Racing, Chase Briscoe won at Darlington Raceway and derailed Kyle Larson as the latter lost the NASCAR Cup Series regular-season title to Tyler Reddick by a mere margin of 1 point. Briscoe started the race from third position but was first to clear the chequered flag and claim the second win of his career.

His first race victory came back in March 2022 at the Ruoff Mortgage 500. Chase eliminated Chris Buescher from the playoffs. While finishing the race in the sixth spot, Buescher lost the final playoff spot to Ty Gibbs and Martin Truex Jr.

13 out of the 16 playoff positions were already decided but with Briscoe winning the race, he changed the whole complexion. Chris Buescher, Bubba Wallace, and Ross Chastain were knocked out.

The other drivers who had the potential but missed the playoff are Kyle Busch, Michael McDowell, Noah Gragson, and Ricky Stenhouse.
