The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season concluded in dramatic fashion last week, with Joey Logano claiming his third championship. Logano surged ahead on a late restart at Phoenix Raceway, overtaking several cars to seize the lead, ultimately holding off his Team Penske teammate, Ryan Blaney, for the victory. The 34 year old driver now joins an exclusive group of champions, having previously won the title in 2018 and 2022.
“I love the playoffs. I love it, man. What a race. What a Team Penske battle there at the end. ... What a team. To fight through today, there was a little bit of adversity throughout the race," Logano said after the race.
Looking ahead, Logano will be focused on further cementing his legacy. A fourth championship would place him in rare company alongside NASCAR legends like Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jimmie Johnson, and Jeff Gordon, the only drivers to win four or more titles in the Cup Series.
When Is the Next NASCAR Race?
NASCAR fans will have to wait until February for the next Cup Series race. The 2024 season has wrapped up, and there will be no more races until the start of the 2025 season.
