Some media publications were running the news stating that wrestler Antim Panghal would be banned for three years by IOA for indiscipline during the Paris Olympic Games 2024. However, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) did not take this widespread of fake news lightly and came out turning down this statement.
“IMPORTANT: IOA refutes reports that a ban has been imposed on wrestler Antim. It requests media persons to please check with the IOA leadership before posting such reports,” IOA wrote in their statement which they posted from their official ‘X’ account formerly known as Twitter.

As per earlier reports, Indian wrestler Antim Phangal was summoned by Paris Police after her sister was found misusing her Olympics accreditation card. sister was apparently caught using her Paris Olympics 2024 accreditation card to enter the athletes' village.
However, in a conversation with nnis sports, Antim revealed that following her match, she was ill and her sister used her card only to get her stuff from the village and police only summoned them for verification purposes.
Antim Panghal's Olympic Hopes Dashed
India's Antim Panghal, a bronze medalist in World Championship, suffered an early exit from the Paris Olympics. The wrestler was defeated by Turkey's Zeynep Yetgil in the first round of the women's 53kg competition, losing by a decisive score of 0-10 due to technical superiority. Panghal's possibilities of repechage were killed when Yetgil was crushed in the quarterfinals, finishing the Indian grappler's Olympic medal hopes. Yetgil's aggressive approach and style overpowered Panghal, prompting a quick 10-0 technical superiority win. Panghal's hopes for Bronze medal were also dashed when Yetgil was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
