Shubman Gill scripts history with heroic batting performance at Edgbaston, leaves behind Kumar Sangakkara in elite list

The India skipper played an exceptional knock of 161 in the second innings against England at Edgbaston, carrying the side's total to 427/6.

The first inning was even better for Gill as he played a magnificent knock of 269, smashing England bowlers all around the stadium.

Gill scored a total of 430 runs in the match. With this, he became the Indian batter with the most runs  in a Test, leaving behind Sunil Gavaskar.
