Argentina overcame the challenge of Croatia in the FIFA World Cup 2022 semifinal by beating them 3-0.
This also meant that Lionel Messi reached his second WC final, and contributed with a goal and an assist for his team.
In doing so, Messi went second on an elite list of all-time goals and assists in FIFA World Cup History.
Topping this list is three-time World Cup winner and legendary Brazilian Pele.
He had 20 goal contributions — 12 goals and 8 assists.
Messi shares 2nd spot with three other legends of the sport, with 19 goal contributions in five World Cup editions.
These are Germany's Miroslav Klose and Gerd Muller, and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Argentine himself has 11 goals and 8 assists to his name.
Lionel Messi's Argentina will now face the winner of the second semifinal between France and Morocco.
