Hockey World Cup 2023: The stadiums of the mega event

The Hockey World Cup 2023 is to begin in Odisha from January 13.

Here, we look at the two stadiums where the Hockey World Cup will be played this time.

The Kalinga Stadium is a very old stadium located in Bhubaneswar. The Hockey World Cup was hosted the last time here only. 

The capacity of Kalinga Stadium is around 16,000.

Apart from hockey, international tournaments for football, tennis, rugby and athletics have also been held in Kalinga.

Apart from Kalinga, the Hockey World Cup 2023 will also be played at the newly renovated Birsa Munda Stadium.

Birsa Munda Stadium is considered to be the largest hockey stadium in the country.

The government spent about Rs 146 crore to build this stadium.

The maximum audience capacity of Birsa Munda Stadium is around 21,000.
